Time: 20 minutes
You set up email once, in one place. After that OpenMasjidOS can email you when something breaks, and your apps can send donation receipts without ever seeing the password.
Open Settings, then Email. Provider offers three choices.
| Provider | Choose it when |
|---|---|
| Resend | You want the simplest path. Paste one API key. |
| SMTP | Your masjid already has an email address you want messages to come from. |
| Off (no email) | You are not ready. Alerts and receipts are simply not sent. |
Getting the key is on the Resend page.
The dashboard says Verified and saved. and reports Test email sent to your address. A red message instead means the details are wrong; nothing is saved until it passes.
Open the Alerts group. Every alert has two switches: Email and Webhook. Both are on by default.
Alerts appear as you install apps, so an empty list on a new install is correct. What you get includes an app going offline, an update being available, and a card payment being disputed.
If your committee already uses a group chat, alerts can go there too.
A test message appears in the channel.
A test email arrived, and the alert list shows both Email and Webhook switches for every alert.
| What you see | Why | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Could not send the test email. Check your settings. | Wrong host, wrong port, wrong password, or a From address the provider will not allow. | Check the port and TLS pair first: 465 with TLS ticked, or 587 with it unticked. Then check the From address is at a domain the provider owns. |
| The test says it sent, but nothing arrives. | It was delivered to spam, or the provider is holding new accounts for review. | Check the spam folder. With Resend, check that the sending domain is verified. |
| No alerts are listed. | Alerts arrive with apps, and none is installed yet. | Nothing to do. Install an app and the list fills in. |
