Keep it updated
What you need
Time: 10 minutes
- You are signed in to the dashboard.
- For the second half, terminal access to the masjid computer.
There are two ways to update. The dashboard is the one to use.
Update from the dashboard
- Open Settings, then find Updates.
- Click Check for updates.
- If a new version exists, click Update now.
A live log shows the progress. The dashboard goes away for a minute while it restarts itself, then comes back on its own. Refresh the page if it does not.
Update your apps
Apps are updated one at a time, from the dashboard.
- On the app's card, open App options.
- Click Check for update.
- If there is one, click Update now.
The card says This app is up to date, or offers the new version and tells you that the app's data is kept.
The installer menu
Running the installer again on a machine that already has OpenMasjidOS does not reinstall it. It shows a menu of five choices.
A menu headed OpenMasjidOS is already installed, with five numbered choices. Pressing Enter chooses Update.
| Choice | What it does |

| 1) Update | Gets the latest version. Keeps your apps and data. |
| 2) Repair | Rewrites the configuration, re-downloads, and restarts. Use it when the dashboard will not load. |
| 3) Reset sign-in | Sets a new password, signs everybody out, and re-links the apps. Keeps all data. |
| 4) Remove | Removes the dashboard. Your apps keep running and your data stays. |
| 5) Quit | Does nothing. |
Stable and Development
Settings has a choice between Stable and Development. Stable is the default and it is the correct answer for a masjid.
Checkpoint
Settings says You're on the latest version, and you know that Repair is the safe first thing to try when something breaks.
If something goes wrong
