Community

This gets built in the open, by people like you

Imams, volunteers, trustees and developers, all working out what masjids actually need. There is no company behind this — the community is the project.

How to help

Four ways in, in order of effort

You don’t need to be a developer for the first two, and plenty of the most useful contributions have never touched code.

Say salaam in Discord

It’s where everything gets decided. Tell us which masjid you’re at and what you’re trying to solve — half the time someone has already built it.

Open an issue

Found a bug, or something confusing? Open an issue on the repository it belongs to. A clear description of what you expected and what happened is a real contribution.

Send a pull request

Small and focused is best. On your first pull request a bot asks you to sign the contributor agreement — one click, once, and never again.

Build an app

Anything that runs in a container can be an OpenMasjidOS app. Write a manifest, list your repository in the catalog, and every masjid can install it.

Where the work lives

Every repository, and what it’s for

Issues go on the repository they belong to. If you aren’t sure which one, ask in Discord and someone will point you.

Come and say salaam

The Discord is small enough that a new face gets noticed and welcomed. Bring your questions.
