Something not working? Ask a person.
There is no support ticket queue here and no bot. The fastest route by a wide margin is the Discord, where the people who wrote this are sitting.
When you ask, it helps a lot to say what machine it’s on, what you expected, and what actually happened.
Before you ask
The five things people ask first
If one of these is your problem, you can be finished in a minute. The docs have a longer troubleshooting list, arranged by what you see on the screen.
The installer finished — where do I go?
It printed an address in a box at the end, something like http://192.168.1.50. Open that on a computer or phone connected to the same network as the server. The first screen asks you to create your admin account.
I can’t reach that address
Check you’re on the same network as the machine — not on mobile data, and not on a guest wifi that isolates devices. If the address changed after a reboot, add a DHCP reservation for the machine in your router so it keeps the same one.
I’ve forgotten the admin password
It can be reset from the machine’s own terminal without losing anything. The command is in the README under Day-to-day, and someone in Discord will walk you through it.
Is it safe to run the install command again?
Yes. Running it a second time doesn’t reinstall over the top — it opens a menu: Update, Repair, Reset sign-in, Remove, or Quit. Update is the default, so pressing Enter takes it. Update and Repair never touch your apps or their data.
Will updating lose anything?
No. Each app runs on its own, so updating OpenMasjidOS leaves your installed apps and everything in them alone. You can also download a backup first from Settings → Advanced.

Report it on the right repository
If it looks like a real bug rather than a question, an issue is better than a chat message — it doesn’t get lost. Pick whichever part is misbehaving.
Not sure which one? Ask in Discord first, or open it on OpenMasjidOS and it will get moved to the right place. It is also worth checking the release notes in case a fix has already shipped, and the README is the most complete guide there is.

Somebody can do the whole thing for you
The software is free and it stays free. What you can pay for is a person's time. Our partner AsmaTec Inc. — a managed IT company, and one of the project's sponsors — will take a masjid from nothing to running, and keep it running afterwards.
What they do
- They tell you exactly what to buy. No working out which mini-PC, which reader, or which decoder box. You get a list, and it is the right one.
- The machine arrives ready. They can ship it set up already, with your masjid’s details in it. You plug it into power and the network, and it works.
- They stay with you to the end. Prayer displays, the donation page, the kiosk, madrasa fees — set up with you, not handed over as a task list.
- Maintenance, only if you want it. An optional monthly plan for updates, backups and checks. Skip it and nothing stops working — you look after it yourself with the guides.

What stays true either way
- The software is free, open source, and the same software either way. There is no paid version and no locked feature.
- It runs on your hardware, in your building. Your records do not come to us, and they do not go to them.
- Your Stripe account, your domain, your data. Nothing is tied to a supplier you would have to keep paying.
- You hold the admin password. If a machine arrives already set up, change it, so only your masjid can get in.
- You can take it over whenever you like. The guides are free, complete, and written for somebody who has never opened a terminal.
