Pricing and comparison

Ours is free. Here is what the others charge.

No tiers, no fee for each device, no share of your donations, no contract. Because there is nothing on our side to charge for, most of this page is what the other three cost.

  • Read from their own pages
  • Quoted to a masjid
  • Not publicly known
What those mean

Mohid and Masjidal publish their prices. We read them on 4 August 2026.

Masjidal’s feature answers go further than their pricing page: they come from signing in to a live Masjidal account on 5 August 2026 and going through the settings and editors. That is one masjid’s account, so a setting here or there can differ from yours.

MadinaApps publishes none. Their figures come from a written quote given to a masjid and from a call with them on 5 August 2026, so yours can differ. The call was transcribed by software: the three $499 setup fees were spoken, not written, and are worth confirming before you budget around them.

Not publicly known means the supplier does not say. It does not mean they cannot do it.

Donation kiosks

Per-kiosk monthly fee $0 $25/mo per kiosk on fixed rates — no monthly device fee if donors cover the fees Not publicly known $29/mo per kiosk, for server and support — flat, the same per kiosk whether you run one or twenty
Hardware, one-off Ours is the only column where the hardware is optional — the software runs on a tablet you already own. An Android tablet you already have, plus a Stripe Reader M2 at $59. Or our own 15.6in kiosk at $599 when it goes on sale — mounting hardware, power adapter and PoE injector in the box $999 for the MOHID Kiosk. Card reader $250 $799.99 for the kiosk Setup fee by screen size: $499 for 10.5in, $699 for 15.6in, $799 for 21.5in
Shipping Nothing to ship Not publicly known Not publicly known About $59 per device. A wall mount is in the box; a floor stand is $59 more
Card processing Every option here runs on a card processor. The question is who takes a cut on top — and for two of these four, nobody does. Stripe’s own rate, paid straight to Stripe from the masjid’s account — 2.7% + 5¢ card-present, or the nonprofit rate if the masjid qualifies. We take nothing on top and never touch the money. Donor-pay 3.32% + $0.32; or fixed rates 2.55% + $0.30 on Visa/Mastercard/Discover and 3.50% + $0.30 on Amex; eCheck $0.29 or $0.20 “Payment processing fees are charged by Stripe. Your organization might qualify for lower processing fees.” No rate publicly known 2.2% + 5¢ at the kiosk. They say that is the gateway’s own rate on the masjid’s own Stripe account, and that they add nothing to it
Contract None. It is your machine and your Stripe account. Not publicly known “No sign-up fees. No contracts.” Month to month by default, cancel any time. A fixed term is offered at a lower price, with a cancellation fee for leaving early
Where these figures come from
Mohid’s figures are from their pricing page, including the Transaction Fees table. Masjidal’s are from their pricing plans and kiosk page. MadinaApps publish nothing, so theirs are quoted. Ours is Stripe’s published card-present rate plus the $59 list price of a Stripe Reader M2.

Three ways to have one

None is a subscription. Two work today.

Available today $59 the card reader, and nothing else

Use a tablet you own

An Android tablet with Android 8.0 or later, plus a Stripe Reader M2. The reader is the only thing you buy. All the features work — tap, chip and swipe, Apple Pay, monthly gifts, email receipts, and a PIN lock.

Available today $0 or $59 for a Mohid kiosk

Keep the kiosk you bought

Put our software on a kiosk from Mohid, Masjidal or MadinaApps. Masjidal and MadinaApps need nothing bought. A Mohid kiosk needs a Stripe Reader M2, because its own reader will not work with us.

See what is involved for each one, lower on this page.

Coming soon $599 once only · then $0 each month

Buy our kiosk

A 15.6 inch screen with the reader under the glass, 4 GB of memory, 64 GB of eMMC, and PoE or DC power. Mount it upright or on its side. The box holds the adapter, a PoE injector and the mounting hardware, and it arrives with OpenMasjid Kiosk set up.

We do not sell it yet, and we will not give you a date we can miss. Ask in Discord. We will tell you when you can order one.

Where these figures come from
For context, the kiosks in the table above are $999 (Mohid, plus $250 for a card reader), $799.99 (Masjidal) and $499 to $799 by screen size (MadinaApps, quoted, plus about $59 shipping) — and every one of those carries a monthly fee as well. MadinaApps’ quoted 15.6 inch unit is the same size as ours, at $699 against $599, plus $59 shipping and $29 a month.

Already bought one? Keep the hardware, drop the bill.

Your masjid may already pay for a kiosk. You do not have to throw the tablet away to stop those payments. In most cases our software installs onto the hardware you own.

What is involved in running OpenMasjid Kiosk on hardware bought from each vendor
Hardware you already have What is involved Extra to buy Monthly after
Mohid MOHID Kiosk Flash OpenMasjid Kiosk onto the tablet, then add a Stripe Reader M2 — the built-in reader will not work with us. $59 for the reader $0
Masjidal Masjidal donation kiosk Flash OpenMasjid Kiosk onto the tablet. Their reader is a Stripe Reader M2, which is the one we drive — so nothing to buy. $0 $0
MadinaApps MadinaApps donation kiosk Flash OpenMasjid Kiosk onto the tablet. Their reader is a Stripe Reader M2, which is the one we drive — so nothing to buy. $0 $0

The one exception is Mohid

Its own card reader does not work with our software. You must add a Stripe Reader M2. That costs $59 at Stripe’s list price, one time. Masjidal and MadinaApps hardware needs nothing more. You install our software, and that is all.

Reported by the OpenMasjid team rather than published as a tested compatibility list — vendors change hardware. Ask in Discord with the model you have and somebody will tell you straight whether it works.

Online donations

Your donation website, and what comes off each gift

Two of these four take nothing on top of the card processor. Where they differ is the monthly bill.

The vendor’s cut of each donation Not the processing fee — the slice the supplier keeps on top of it. Two of these four keep nothing. $0 — nothing on top of Stripe, ever Donor-pay 3.32% + $0.32; or fixed rates 2.55% + $0.30 on Visa/Mastercard/Discover and 3.50% + $0.30 on Amex. Mohid do not use Stripe, so these are their own rates covering processing and their share together — the split is not published, and their table does not separate online from kiosk Not publicly known — their page says only that “payment processing fees are charged by Stripe” $0 — they say the percentage is the gateway’s own rate and that they take nothing out of it
Card processing 2.2% + 30¢ on Stripe’s nonprofit rate, which a registered masjid usually qualifies for — 2.9% + 30¢ otherwise. Paid straight to Stripe from your own account; we take nothing on top Included in the rates above Stripe’s rates — the amounts are not publicly known 2.2% + 30¢, on the masjid’s own Stripe account
Where these figures come from
Mohid’s Transaction Fees table does not separate online giving from kiosk giving, so the same published rates are shown for both — see their pricing page. Masjidal’s pricing plans say only that “payment processing fees are charged by Stripe”, without an amount, so their column shows no rate rather than a guess. Ours is Stripe’s standard online rate, paid straight to Stripe from your own account.

Where these figures come from
Mohid does not price the Signage Player on its own product page; the $100 per player is from their pricing page. Masjidal’s tiers are from their pricing plans and the player price from Al-Iqamah. MadinaApps’ per-TV figures are quoted rather than published, and the two quotes do not agree: a written one said $20 for 2–5 screens, and on 5 August 2026 it was $25, with a third tier above five. Both appear above rather than only the cheaper one.

One more thing worth knowing

Your masjid probably qualifies for Stripe’s cheaper nonprofit rate

Masjids are usually registered nonprofits, and Stripe charges those less. Ask for it.

2.9% + 30¢ 2.2% + 30¢

Stripe charges an eligible nonprofit that rate online, in place of its standard 2.9% + 30¢. We must be clear about one thing: Stripe does not publish this figure. You apply, and Stripe then confirms the rate for your account. Use this number to start that conversation. It is not a quote.

  • Who qualifies Registered nonprofits in an eligible region, where at least 80% of Stripe volume is tax-deductible donations.
  • What is excluded Tuition, membership fees, tickets, registrations and auctions do not count toward that 80%, and bill at the standard rate.
  • At a kiosk, check first Stripe’s in-person rate is 2.7% + 5¢. The two cross at $50, so below that a card-present gift is cheaper on the standard rate.
Where these figures come from
The conditions and the excluded payment types are from Stripe’s own page on the nonprofit discount; the standard rates are from Stripe’s pricing page, read on 4 August 2026. The 2.2% + 30¢ figure is not on either — it is the rate we understand eligible nonprofits are given, so confirm it with Stripe for your own account rather than budgeting on our word for it.
